Stras’Coop

The report focused on the common areas, the true breathing spaces of the site: generous halls, circulation areas, patios, walkways, meeting areas.

These spaces, meticulously designed and executed, require a precise and patient eye.

I devoted a significant amount of time to it in order to restore the quality of the finishes, the dialogue between concrete, metal, wood and vegetation, as well as the way in which natural light structures the volumes. The challenge was to avoid a purely real estate-based reading, by constructing a sensitive and inhabited visual narrative.

Stras’Coop and the La Coopé Residence are part of a large-scale urban project, combining housing, office spaces and shared living spaces, in the heart of Strasbourg.

A former industrial site that has been rehabilitated, the complex embodies a new way of living and working, based on mixed uses, sustainability and collective intelligence.

As an architectural photographer, my approach has been to reveal the overall coherence of the project, without ever losing sight of the human scale that constitutes its heart.

This report holds a special place in my career. It is the main project with which I received the award. Qualified European Photographer (QEP), a rare recognition in architectural photography on a European scale.

I made the choice to present exclusively this renovation work, whereas most applications rely on iconic projects.

This distinction underlines the documentary, technical and sensitive value of this report, and confirms my commitment to using photography to serve demanding and meaningful architectural projects.

Certain constraints reinforced this approach. The occasional presence of construction-end elements, the still-empty spaces in the office area, and the complexity of the site necessitated… deliberate photographic choices.

I also incorporated a discreet human presence in certain viewpoints, sometimes with my own children as models, in order to give the spaces a proper scale and to recall the deeply social vocation of the project.

Photographing Stras’Coop was above all about telling the story of a place in the making, alive, and already appropriated.
