Born in 1980s, Michael Bouton is a travel photographer based in Strasbourg, France.
He uses his camera as a tool to document the world around him, capturing the passage of time in a continuous and random movement. From Strasbourg to Milan, from the Alps to Luxembourg, his photographs speak of the human condition, addressing the unremarkable backdrops and elements of train stations, cities, or landscapes he witnesses daily.
The subjects of his photographs are often overlooked because they are unremarkable. Yet, these photographs, whether of buildings, trains, tunnels, pallets, or fields, exist not only to capture the moment and the “that-has-been” of Roland Barthes, but also to convey a desire to let go, to enjoy the present moment, and to create a disturbance in perception.
